Suppression of sunflower moth may be facilitated by timing insecticide applications according to a temperature-based model. Also, newly available insecticides and resistant varieties contribute to integrated pest management of the moth.

Although technology will continue to be developed and used on California farms, greater stability in employer-employee relations (stimulated by modern labor management, collective bargaining, Unemployment Insurance, and non-wage benefits) is likely to displace as many farm workers.

Low phosphorus and energy intake by cows fed barley straw caused calving difficulties; but cows fed rice-straw rations had no difficulty and produced calves within the normal weight range.
